Saturday: Inspired

I know things have been quiet on the blog, but I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to school and I'm feeling very inspired for some big projects in the works! We are doing my graduation photos this weekend, but until then, here's a peek at what I'm loving right now.

Another super busy week! On Sunday, I chaired our chapter's Founder's Day Celebration and we attended a lovely first birthday party for our friends' daughter. All week at school was crazy with tests and projects and all week at work was busy with prepping for our big session today. Anyways, some of you (Alison!) have reminded me that I've been neglecting the blog. I'll try to get on top of it!

Really looking forward to a beautiful and relaxing Easter weekend. Our Easter plans: dinner with family on Saturday night, church and volunteering with kids Sunday morning and a Giants game on Sunday afternoon! Enjoy your Easter weekend!

Family Day 2011

You might have noticed that I was totally m.i.a. last week. Here's the thing. I love my sorority and I love event planning and when my sorority and event planning come together... it's the perfect storm. A couple of months ago, I volunteered to be the chair for our 1st Annual Family Day and since then I've been planning away. By Monday, our apartment, car and lives were totally and completely wrapped up in hosting the perfect Family Day on Friday. It ended up turning out really well and I think everybody really enjoyed themselves. Thankfully, Jake (my ever helpful, patient and loving husband) took all the pictures and helped out immensely.

All my set up girls. I'm the fourth one over, looking way too happy for way too little sleep!

We started off with check in and a welcome program. At the beginning of the semester, I got this crazy idea to start a mini choir within the chapter to perform for our families and alumnae during events. I named them The Rosettes, and amazingly, my dream totally came to life. In between the speakers, who talked about the history of Alpha Xi Delta, of our chapter and our philanthropic partnership with Autism Speaks, twelve of us sang musical numbers that corresponded to the program, including a rendition of All You Need Is Love that we are super proud of.

Check in!

Really great turnout!

My Rosettes! Love these talented ladies. They were a huge hit!

After the program, everyone went outside for our "Pink Rose Picnic Lunch". We had BBQ tri-tip and chicken catered. It was so great to see all the girls enjoying time with their families and sharing Alpha Xi Delta with them.

Tri tip, spicy chicken, corn, fresh fruit salad, and corn muffins. Yum!

We held a Daddy & Daughter Relay Race and a Mother & Daughter Minute to Win It. Everyone's competitive sides really came out during the games and some of it was just downright hilarious.

Overall, it was a blast and I'm really proud of myself and all the sisters who helped out and supported me to make it such a great event. It also feels good to be able to take a moment away from tabulating guest lists, making centerpieces and running song practices for the first time in a few weeks. Not for long, though... I'm also planning our Founder's Day Breakfast which is coming up on Sunday!

This week was my last ever spring break and it went much much too fast. Maybe I can cram all the work I was supposed to make up this week into the weekend. Tonight we are celebrating Jake's grandfather's birthday with a dinner out with the family and Jake has promised me a weekend trip to Ikea! Joy!
